Urlich Milne Lawyers Limited (collectively referred to as “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. We are committed to protecting your personal information and acting in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.


This Privacy Policy will inform you as to how we collect, store and use your personal information when you access and use our website www.uml.co.nz and otherwise interact with us. 


1. WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT FROM YOU?

(b) Details you provide to us as part of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 due diligence process;

(f) Information that you have authorised other third parties to provide to us; and

(g) Details of your visit to our website.


1.3 Provision of personal information is voluntary but if you do not provide any information that is reasonably requested by us, you may not be able to use our website, or this may impact on our ability to provide you with legal services and respond to your enquiries.

3.2 We may disclose non-personally identifiable information to our service providers (such as Google) for the purposes of conducting our business and improving our website, services and marketing.


4. SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION

4.1 We maintain security safeguards to protect your information and take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is not disclosed to any unauthorised person or entity. Any information that we collect about you is held by us in the format of our choice and is kept either safe at secure file storage sites (including electronic file storage sites) or at our premises located at Imagetext House, Ground floor, 3 Owens Road, Epsom, Auckland 1023.

4.2 Regardless of the security measures taken by us, you acknowledge and understand that no data transmission over the internet and no security software or other security feature can be guaranteed as totally secure.


5. RETENTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

5.1 We will only retain your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements.

5.2 We may retain your personal information for a longer period in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe there is a prospect of litigation in respect to our relationship with you.

6.1 You are entitled to request access to, and correction of any personal information held by us.

7.1 We may from time to time send you information about our services or information relating to New Zealand law.

8. THIRD PARTY WEBSITES

8.1 Please note our website may also contain links to other third party websites. We do not have any control over those websites and this Policy does not apply to such websites.


9. COOKIES AND MARKETING TOOLS 

9.1 We and our trusted partners use cookies and other technologies in our related services, including when you visit our website or access our services. We automatically collect technical information about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns. Technical information includes internet protocol (IP) address, login data, time zone setting and location, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access and use our website.

9.2 A "cookie" is a small piece of information that the website assigns to your device while you are viewing the website. Cookies are very helpful and can be used for various purposes. 9.5 We also use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about your use of the Site. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users access the Site, what pages they visit when they do so, etc. We use the information we get from Google Analytics only to improve our Site and services. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit sites, rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected using Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this website is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

9.6 You can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies you may not be able to access all or parts of our website.
